Committed to sustainability, we run on 95% solar energy and strive to protect and preserve all forms of life. Our biological garden provides many of the fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables used in our kitchen, ensuring nourishing, farm-to-table meals. Thoughtfully designed for comfort, our rooms feature high-quality mattresses and cushions, offering a restful and rejuvenating stay. Here, every detail is crafted with care, inviting you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself and nature.
Guest access: Nestled along the tranquil shores of a vast freshwater lake, our Quinta is a sanctuary of peace and natural beauty. A gentle stroll through the lush gardens, past the inviting sauna, leads you to a wooden pontoon where boats, canoes, and SUPs await, ready for you to glide across the serene waters. Our spacious 20x8m yoga shala, fully equipped and offering breathtaking lake views, provides the perfect setting for deep practice and connection. For more intimate or transformative experiences, our cozy yurt is a sacred space for meditation, sound journeys, and holistic rituals. Immerse yourself in pure relaxation in our Watsu pool, where you can indulge in an aqua massage or simply float beneath the vast, starlit sky. Mealtimes are a sensory delight, whether enjoyed outdoors, surrounded by birdsong, or in our expansive 120m² living area, designed for comfort and community. Every moment here invites stillness, renewal, and a deeper connection with yourself and nature.

Additional details: At booking we ask for a deposit of the total amount of the first 2 nights booked. This deposit is non-refundable and not transferable to another date. 6 weeks prior to arrival we ask for the remaining payment of the accomodation. Once paid this is also not refundable. All extras like food or transport have to be paid at check-out.

An off the beaten path retreat in Portugese paradise! I have travelled all over the world and I have to say this stay was one of the best retreat settings have experienced. First, the location is stunning. The area, happily off the beaten path, is idyllic and full of flora, birds and trees unique to the area including the local cork. The view from all rooms (and individual porches) is of a lake and hills. It is built on the side of a slope and despite that they have easy paths that do not require a lot of work with little outdoor rooms to sit and admire the views all the way to the lake where you can paddle away on their kayaks/canoes or take a dip in the lovely waters even in October.

The Villa was built stone by stone by Innkeeper Frank, Daniela and their community. The decades labor of love shows in the best way possible. The rooms are unique and decorated with what I assume what they picked up over time locally and on their own travels. Frank is quick to offer a story if asked of the adventure associated. He is a bird expert and offers bird tours. There is a bird hide on property as well as a plunge pool, outdoor yoga studio, and fantastic yurt where it is a treat if Daniela offers a 'sound bath' before bed- don't miss that opportunity. All impeccably maintained and laundry services offered.

They also have community meals. I was there for an art holiday. This was a special time of the day and to discuss the day and hear about others local adventures. The food was cooked by Daniela and team and outstanding. We agreed at dinner with Frank she should write a cookbook.

Frank also offered in addition tour art class, a gentle walk in a local area to get inspiration as well as a tour to a local potter. Overall, very laid back. If you want a retreat, to bird, water sports, fish, relax, do art, yoga etc. and get away, go to Paradise! Elizabeth

A Dream Retreat Destination had the most amazing experience at Paradise in Portugal during The Do Good Movement yoga retreat. This place truly has it all—from birding and kayaking to yoga and relaxing by the water. Every moment was incredibly serene and enjoyable, making it one of the most relaxing retreats I've ever been a part of.

The staff at Paradise in Portugal were phenomenal, welcoming us with open arms and ensuring that every detail of our stay was perfect. The meals were beyond amazing, offering delicious and nourishing options that made our retreat even more special.

If you’re looking for a place that combines natural beauty, relaxation, and exceptional service, Paradise in Portugal is it. I can't recommend it enough for anyone seeking a peaceful and rejuvenating experience. Erin

About Daniela & Frank McClintock

Meet Your Hosts – Daniela & Frank Hi, I’m Daniela, and together with my husband Frank—who founded this project in 1987—we are delighted to be your hosts during your stay. I was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1971, and in my early twenties, I discovered my passion for alternative medicine and healthy food. This led me to study and work at the Tomas Nelisson Shiatsu Center in Vienna, where I deepened my knowledge and practice. During this time, I also trained under Grandmaster Wang Dongfeng, studying Tai Chi, Chi Kung, and Wushu, while working as a macrobiotic chef in various wellness centers across Vienna. In 2000, after the birth of my second daughter, my family and I moved to Portugal in search of a life closer to nature. Five years later, after navigating personal challenges and welcoming my third child, I met my now-husband Frank—the owner and manager of Paradise in Portugal, which soon became home for me and my children. Together, we not only raised our family but also expanded and developed this beautiful retreat into what it is today. Frank’s love for nature and birdwatching, combined with my passion for alternative medicine and holistic healing, has shaped Paradise in Portugal into a sanctuary where guests can reconnect with themselves and the natural world.
